n other business, the board approved a joint use agreement with Marion County Community Services regarding an indoor walking track at the school gymnasium. The track was built with a grant written by District Federal Programs Director Petra Pershall and one of the stipulations was that a partnership be formed with a community organization.
MC Community Services Chairman Travis Doshier and Superintendent Query signed the partnership agreement, which will set aside eight hours a week outside of school hours when community residents can use the track for walking. It's planned that the agreement will go into effect on August 1st.
Marion County Community Services was formed several years ago and is in the process of trying to build a centrally-located county community center that would offer a number of options to the public, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, auditorium and exercise facility, as well as serving as an emergency shelter when needed.
Doshier said the organization is seeking contributions toward the goal, which could include cash or land. He noted that the multi-use facility might also serve as a satellite classroom branch for ASU-Mountain Home.
